Assessment
When you initially meet Dr Habib, the focus will be to clarify the reasons you are attending now, the history of the problem you face, and an overview of your relevant history, including your strengths and successes. He may also ask you to complete some questionnaires. This is a collaborative process, the aim of which is a shared understanding and an agreed plan for treatment. Dr Habib also has a special interest in the assessment of ADHD in adults and youth.
Individual Therapy
Dr Habib has knowledge, experience and training in various therapies including cognitive behavioural therapies, attachment theory informed therapies such as emotionally focused therapy, mindfulness informed therapies, psychodynamic techniques, and positive psychology interventions.
Couple Therapy
The main model Dr Habib draws upon is Emotionally Focused Therapy for couples (EFT). This approach is effective in helping couples resolve conflict, enhance communication, repair ruptures from betrayal, increase emotional security and connection, and co-manage existing mental disorders such as depression and trauma.
Family Therapy
Family therapy can be very helpful in a range of mental ill-health and relationship problems. Family therapy harnesses the inter-relatedness and shared lived experience of family members, within and across generations, to clarify difficulties without blame and identify strengths. Dr Habib invites individuals to focus on sharing responsibility and working together towards desired change. The family’s resources will be used to achieve positive change. Family therapy is very mindful of the diverse social and cultural contexts in which families live.
Clinical Supervision
Dr Habib provides supervision to registered psychologists on an ongoing or short-term basis. Other professions by mutual agreement.
